The Resistance's T-70 X-wing and the First Order's TIE/fo fighter have just made their debut in The Force Awakens Core Set and are already flying missions, shooting down enemy ships, and making their mark on the game. With their new attributes, tech upgrade slots, and talented pilots, these starfighters will help decide the fate of the galaxy—even before Star Wars:The Force Awakens hits theaters.

TIE/fo Fighter Expansion Pack

The TIE/fo, mass-produced by the First Order, is an extremely agile starfighter that offers a unique blend of durability, maneuverability, and advanced technology. The right pilot will quickly learn to leverage the TIE/fo's advantages in combat.

In addition to the miniature, the TIE/fo Fighter Expansion Pack contains 6 ship cards and 2 upgrade cards that allow you to assign interesting new combat tactics to your First Order pilots.

Two of the expansion's three unique aces possess an elite pilot talent slot, enabling them to equip the new Juke upgrade. For two squad points, this elite pilot talent is one of the few ways an attacker can modify their dice results.

“When attacking, if you have an evade token, you may change 1 of the defender's evade results into a focus result.”

The downside, of course, is that you must spend an evade token—and the rules state that you must discard all evade tokens from your ships at the end of the round. The solution is Communications Relay, a new tech upgrade for the TIE/fo. For three squad points, this upgrade allows you to keep one evade token—it does not have to be discarded at the end of the round. This allows you to perform an evade action in the first round of the game, surround the Resistance forces, and then save the evade token for Juke.

If your pilot fires early enough in combat, you can still use an evade token to protect your ship from damage it might take after firing—what more could you want? Accordingly, you won’t find anyone better suited to pull off such jukes than Omega Leader, one of the expansion's three unique aces. After all, his pilot skill value of 8 ensures that he is always one of the first to fire in a battle.
